About the Author
Author Nikita Kapoor is a multi-award-winning twelve-year-old poet and novelist. After learning to read at three years old, she began writing stories and poems shortly thereafter. As with many creatives, the pandemic gave Nikita time and the opportunity to focus on her craft and delve deeper into her favorite genres, and at age eight, she started what became her newly released middle-grade fantasy title, Pack of the Lost: The Uninviting Forest, and her debut poetry book, Gentle Shadows Fierce Wings.
Nikita’s debut poetry compilation, which was first published as a paperback when she was ten years old, has won multiple international awards, including a Gold Medal in poetry from the Nautilus Book Awards in 2023, and she was also awarded special honors as a debut author. In addition, her debut novel has received stellar editorial reviews and has won numerous accolades, including the Gold Medal in 2023 from the Independent Publishers Book Awards for Best First Book in the juvenile/young adult fiction category.
Nikita and her writings have been featured in the Young Mensan Magazine’s Fall and Winter 2022 issues, the December 2022 issue of Peninsula Magazine, and the April 2023 issue of Palos Verdes Magazine. She is a member of Mensa and her school’s gifted program. She is also a Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth member and was awarded Grand Honors in their talent program.
She is part of the Gifted and Talented (GATE) program at her school, in addition to being a member of Mensa.
But most of all, Nikita loves nature and animals and wants to help make our world a better place for animals and humans alike.

In its annual international book award contest Readers' Favorite awarded "Gentle Shadows Fierce Wings" a silver medal in the poetry category (2023). In addition, Pack of the Lost - The Uninviting Forest received the Honorable Mention award in the children's adventure category (2023).
The Readers' Favorite International Book Award Contest featured thousands of contestants from over a dozen countries, ranging from new independent authors to NYT best-sellers and celebrities.
Readers' Favorite is one of the largest book review and award contest sites.
